One of our favourite parts of Christmas day is getting the whole family around the table for a big Christmas dinner. To help you dress it to impress this year, we’ve put together a quick guide with our top picks for your Christmas table.
Find the perfect table linen
To start off with, you need to make sure you have a nice table cloth – try to stick to festive colours such as red, green or just a nice crisp white table cloth. Use a contrasting table runner to add depth to your table – a black or white table runner will usually do the trick! You could also add tablemats in the same colours. There’s sure to be some hot bowls and plates on the table so it might be worth investing in a table protector too as this will prevent damage.
If your table theme is red, why not add some red seat pads to your dining chairs to give them a festive makeover too? Although it’s not strictly a table decoration, we recommend investing in some new tea towels … we love these traditional checked style tea towels – they will look fab at Christmas, and can also be used throughout the year.
Pop the essentials on to your table
You can find some really nice festive salt and pepper shakers – it’s worth a look at what’s available to add a nice festive touch to your table!
Add your own personal touch
Now it’s time to have some fun! Add a touch of sparkle to your Christmas table with some Christmas themed table scatters or by making an exciting centrepiece out of sparkly baubles! When dressing your table, it’s all about being creative – adding homemade touches will ensure you have a table like no other this year.
Candles are a staple decoration at Christmas, but be sure to watch your cuffs when serving food near them, you don’t want any accidents this year! If you’re going for a traditional Christmas table, use tall, long candles and for a modern look, tea lights in small holders will do the trick. And, obviously, no Christmas table would be complete without crackers!
We’d love to see how you decorate your table this year, so be sure to post a snap over on our Facebook page once it’s all set!
