Spring Style For Your Home

As the temperatures rise and the sun starts to shine through your windows, it might be time to store away the thick duvet and cosy throws for when the weather gets colder again and get your home ready for the spring/summer season.

There are lots of touches that you can add to your home to create a cosy spring time feel, and you don't have to change your entire décor to do so.

Small touches like bunches of bright and pastel flowers or daffodils are perfect for brightening up the dull corners, and a few extra textile products can transform your home completely. Candles in fresh scents are also a nice touch for the spring season.

During the autumn months, you may like to fill your home with autumnal flowers in oranges and brown, cosy throws and fairylights, before the Christmas decorations take over during the winter. With a Christmas tree, lights and festive trinkets around your home during December and into the New Year, your home may feel a little bare and boring in the first couple of months in the year.

Now that spring is here, let's look at some little touches you can add to bring the sunshine into your home...

Florals

A great way to bring spring into your home is to inject some florals into your décor. Flowers are always associated with the spring weather, so anything in pastel colours with a floral pattern will work amazingly well in your home. There are many ways to add florals to your rooms without having to spend a fortune – no one wants to redecorate every season!

New, fresh bedding can completely transform your bedroom, and choosing a spring print will add a great touch, especially if your walls and furniture are fairly neutral. Duvet covers such as this Imogen Pink Purple Floral Duvet Cover Set, Suri Oriental Floral Birds Duvet Cover Set or Katie Floral Blue Thermal Flannelette Duvet Cover Set.

You could also switch up your curtains and cushions to create a spring look in your living room. These Charlotte Birdcage Floral Butterfly Duck Egg Blue curtains and the matching cushions will change up your room to add a spring feel, especially if you have white or cream furniture.

Beds

When the temperatures start to rise, you may want to get rid of the extra layers you add to your bed to keep warm during the winter months. Replace your throw for something a little thinner if you like to dress your bed nicely and replace your extra cushions with floral and pastels instead of thick fabrics and winter prints. You may also want to swap your quilt for something with a lower tog. Many people like to have a winter quilt and a summer quilt to ensure they maintain a nice temperature throughout the night. Having a comfortable bed and a comfortable environment to sleep in almost guarantees a better night's sleep, leaving you refreshed and ready for your day.

Tea Parties

During the summer months, it's nice to have family and friends round for BBQs and picnics in the garden. One of the best things about the warm weather is how there are so many options for socialising. During the spring, the weather is still temperamental and you might not want to organise any outdoor activities in case of chilly winds and showers.

You can however enjoy the sun through the windows and have people round for afternoon tea and cake with these lace tablecloths, perfect for setting the scene. Traditional afternoon tea is a little luxury that many people enjoy, so hosting your own would be a great change to the usual activities. Set the table with small plates, cake stands and a teapot, and create your own vintage tea party with finger sandwiches, cakes and a good cuppa. Asking everyone to bring an offering will be a great way to keep costs down and have a good selection of things to try.

Net Curtains

The sun has finally come out which is great after the miserable winter months, grey skies and constant rain. However, sunlight streaming through the windows can often cause reflections on the television or annoying strips of light shining in your eyes.

Closing the curtains during the day isn't really an option - you still want to enjoy the weather from indoors, and natural lighting through the windows is a great way of warming the home. However, you could hang net curtains to ensure the light is filtered slightly.

Net curtains are something that many people have as standard in their rooms. Not only do they look great from the outdoors as well as inside, but they add a little privacy to your home too, especially if you live on a busy street where people often walk by.

Door Nets

When you're pottering around the kitchen or sat in the living room, you may like to have the back doors open to let a little fresh air into your home. However, there are a few issues that can prevent you from having this luxury.

Firstly, strong winds can blow through your home, slamming doors and blowing papers around which can be very annoying. Secondly, as the weather gets warmer, more bugs and bees start to come out and the next thing you know, you'll have flies buzzing around your kitchen which is not only annoying but unhygienic too.

A door net can minimise drafts and stop the bugs from flying in, yet still let the fresh air enter your home.

Adding a few small touches around your home is the perfect way to celebrate the spring weather.
