August is officially peach month and we've decided to celebrate by creating a mood board inspiration for your home.

Peach and orangey tones are very trendy this season and adding peach elements to your home can help easily transition your interior décor to autumn.

Let's go through the basics first!

Before considering a colour scheme change for your room décor, take a moment to understand the psychological properties of the colour that you are thinking of. Colours affect us on a subliminal level more than we realize. Different colours can remind us of cultural or personal values, whereas others can trigger both positive and negative feelings. This month's colour and all its variations is generally speaking a warm and inviting colour that calls to mind feelings of playfulness, excitement, enthusiasm and freshness.

The great thing about orange is that it goes really well with any neutral décor colours (cream, grey, off white, plain white, cotton, beige or ivory) as well as with tones of turquoise and blue. This is because orange sits opposite to blue on the colour wheel, making the two colours perfectly complementary.

If you want to find out if two colours are complementary all you have to do is locate the colour on the colour wheel and trace a line to the colour sitting opposite to it, as shown in the example below.

You can easily incorporate orange/peachy accents into your summer décor without fearing that the orange accessories won't match and then you can also keep them as part of a more autumnal setting.

Orange tones combined with blues, teals and turquoises are definitely going to stand out and the fun contrast is pleasing to the eye. However, if you are unsure of whether this would work for you consider starting with small changes that can easily be replaced such as cushion covers or bathroom textiles such as shower curtains, towels and bath mats. This is a great chance to play around with the bold colour combination without the hassle of commitment!
